Michael Douglas announced his diagnosis of throat cancer on August 16, 2010 and it was discovered at the beginning of the month, through a biopsy. Mr. Douglas is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation to treat a walnut-sized tumor at the base of his tongue.

Michael and Catherine have two children and have been married for ten years. The actress has admitted this has been extremely emotional because it was very unusual to see Michael tired all the time.

On the Late Show with David Letterman, Michael Douglas on Tuesday said, “My cancer is late stage four, which is the worst it could get. The cancer does remain above my neck and that is a good sign. So, the doctors are giving me an 80% chance of recovery.”
