Actor and television host Gary Collins, husband of Mary Ann Mobley is embroiled in a hit and run case that is also dragging down his wife.

Gary Collins now faces charges of misdemeanour after he rammed into the back of a vehicle, injuring the woman and child in the sedan. The woman had stopped at a red light when Gary Collins plowed into Cheryl Hales’ vehicle.

To make matters worse, he fled the scene of the accident that happened this Tuesday, said reports in the Clarion Ledger.

Gary Collins has played host to the Miss America pageant and other shows. Cheryl Hales along with eye witnesses to the hit and run incident brought the 71-year-old to book after managing to note down his license plate number and thus tracking him down.

Reports say that Collins rammed into the sedan at 40 MPH and when he got out, he looked clearly drunk. He has previously faced three DUI charges, and is blood brother to David Cassidy, both of whom have their blood counts laced with alcohol when it comes to a breath test.

Collins was seen flapping his arms at the scene of the accident and shouted asking what ‘we were waiting for?’ Collins is sure not the once bitten twice shy kind, having been in the dock twice in ten tears for DUI charges. In 2007 his drunken driving claimed a life . Gary Collins is husband to former Miss America actress Mary Ann Mobley.
