CQ press conducted a survey today to decide on the safe and unsafe cities in the United States.
The survey was conducted on 75000 individuals from more than 400 cities. The level of crimes
committed in the whole nation was the adjudicating factor for this scrutiny. Cities were judged on
burglary, robbery, murder, rape, aggravated assault and vehicle theft.
The data on which the research was done was taken from the FBI records .FBI did not support these
rankings and said these means of judgement may not be correct always. Spokesperson for St. Louis
police department, Erica Van Ross also spoke on the lines of the FBI claiming that there were a
number of parameters which needs to be looked into before making such public rankings. Van ross
said, geography and economy play a key role in deciding such things. However spokesperson for St.
Louis Mayor Francis Slay feels that crime has been decreasing in the city and has gone down by 7% in
the past three years.
