Having problems with public speaking? Media reports suggest there is a solution in a unique therapy. Neuro Linguistic Programming is a form of therapy that, unlike conventional forms of therapy, does not involve diagnosis and treatment of a problem.

Instead, it is a method of communication between a therapist and participant which focuses on the goals that the latter has set and whether he or she is capable of achieving them. It is wholly centered on listening to the participant and basing therapy on their particular needs and capabilities.

NLP Crucial in Public Speaking as Well

The techniques used in neuro linguistic programming have been in use in fields such as sports and business, and only began being used as behavior patterning strategies recently.

Reports indicate that Neuro Linguistic Programming improves public speaking skills through the use of practical devises such as anchoring, use of rapport and mimicry when talking to large groups and putting forward persuasive arguments.

Since neuro-linguistic programming focuses on what triggers particular habits, it is an effective tool in psychotherapy. Its strategies are able to change dependence on unhealthy habits like smoking and over indulgence.

For example, through the recognition of triggers and feelings that are associated with a certain event or trauma, the participant learns what kind of a thinker they might be and what cues they give when they are on the verge of indulging in an undesired habit.

They can also adopt new methods of visualizing unpleasant experiences and making the sub-conscious indifferent to them, according to a Neuro linguist. This is effective in helping participants desist from looking at the past with fear or anger, but rather adopting an indifferent attitude and moving on.

Due to its tendency to focus on goal-setting and centering on a client, NLP is highly effective in enabling clients to feel a great measure of personal success since they have helped themselves.
