The new blackberry apps unveiled by Research in Motion (RIM) is a novel enterprise development platform, in San Francisco, during its yearly developer conference. Other apps include a new development web platform, social platform, tools, services, analytical services and a new advertising service.

RIM’s new open-source Web-Works has been designed to make sure developers can build blackberry’s full-featured set of applications completely in JavaScript, CSS and HTML. RIM combined the SDK Blackberry widget it released in 2009 with the Webkit Blackberry framework plus new platform and tools services for the creation of a rich, fully developed blackberry apps integrated, with no skills in Java really required. This was said by Software SVP at RIM’s, Jeff Jackson.

In his keynote conference presentation Jackson said to those who attended that they could now leverage their personal HTML existing skills, which take the advantage of having advanced features via services and APIs, equivalent to what the Java applications for a BlackBerry are able to do, currently.

The SVP of Software also said that they did in-depth integration more than many would expect in the operating system of the Blackberry 6, to help access to the APIs. This means that any developer out there will be able to access similar APIs in use by all Java developers.

Some of the other BlackBerry apps introduced were an appdev, a new enterprise platform called BlackBerry Enterprise Application Middleware, the BlackBerry Messenger or BBM Social Platform, that allows a developer to build any app suitable for BlackBerry Smartphone to accomplish social functions such as content sharing, chat and others.

The New developed BlackBerry Analytics Service is mandated to aid in adding measurement into developer’s applications as well as insights into the way customers are making use of their own BlackBerry Smartphone applications, courtesy of an agreement between RIM and Webtrends, an analytics provider.
