![]() Antibody test A new HIV antibody test might help not only to reduce the HIV symptoms that humans will have to deal with, but also spur the development of effective vaccines for prevention and treatment. This is a breakthrough that scientists are very eager to share after they identified two potent human antibodies that can stop over 90 percent all HIV strains from infecting human cells. Could this be what it takes for us to find a cure from this deadly disease? With an HIV antibody test, the structure of the cells will be evaluated. It is believed that the antibodies found in cells known as VRC01 and VRC02 are the ones that allow for HIV symptoms to increase. The infection is able to spread through the bloodstream. However, the various HIV symptoms could be reduced when those antibodies are countered with others so that the virus binds to cells rather than being able to spread through the bloodstream. There are several scientists that have been involved with the HIV antibody test and they agree this can be an amazing breakthrough. The complete results of the studies conducted by two separate research teams have come to the same conclusions. The online edition of Science has articles that talk in depth about the findings of these studies. With the structure of the HIV virus identified they are excited to start working on how they can extract the infected cells as well as prevent them from spreading to healthy cells. Image Credit: |
