After 5 weeks of NFL action, the power rankings for this week remain more or less the same with the top three remaining intact with a new entry in the top 5. Week 5 turned out to be a rather entertaining and dramatic week in which some of the best teams performed badly while the mediocre ones stepped up the pedal.

So, the rankings are as follows..

1.      Baltimore Ravens (4-1) – Ravens have been the best team this season. They defeated the Broncos easily and thus retain the top position.

2.      Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1) – The Steelers got a bye this week and next week they will have Big Ben, their All-pro quarterback back. They host the Browns on Sunday in Heinz field in a division match.

3.      New York Jets (4-1) – The Jets enjoyed a satisfying victory on Monday over the Vikings and Brett Favre, their former quarterback. They will meet the struggling Broncos on Sunday in Mile High stadium.

4.      Atlanta Falcons (4-1) – They are the best team in the very weak NFC. They had a victory over the struggling Browns on Sunday with another impressive display by their defence. Though this team lacks style they emerge to be the winners.

5.      New England Patriots (3-1) – The Patriots face a tough task this week against the Ravens though they had a bye this past week to prepare for it. Their offensive tactics are also to be seen with the inclusion of Randy Moss of the Vikings as a third round pick.

The top 5 teams in NFL after week 5 are the ones listed above. After these teams, Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Titans, Kansas City Chiefs, New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears follow the rankings.
