Paris Hilton has pled to possession of cocaine and will have one year of probation due to a plea bargain made on her behalf. She plead guilty to a lesser charge which makes it a misdemeanor rather than a felony. The stipulations of this probation though state if she is arrested for anything over that a traffic violation during that year the remainder of the probation sentence will be revoked.

Other requirements include a fine of $2,000 and 200 hours of community service. Hilton is also being mandated to complete a substance abuse program to help reduce the chances of such a problem occurring again in the future. While some feel she got off easy with no jail time, Hilton has stated she understands the severity of the situation. She also states she is happy she gets a second chance.

Known as one of the party girls in the spotlight, she will definitely have to change her ways if she is going to get through this year of probation without further incident. Many experts feel she also needs to change who she hangs around with so that the peer pressure of using drugs won’t be there.

These charges stem from Hilton being pulled over in Las Vegas on August 27th. She was found to have .08 ounces of cocaine in her purse. She was also detained in South Africa early this summer for possession of marijuana. However, no legal charges were pursued in that incident. Still, it does point to her having a problem that needs to be addressed in terms of the use of illegal drugs.
