White House is reported to have asked the appeals court of the United States to suspend the decision by a judge to permit gays the chance to serve within the military openly, as it aims to appeal against the ruling.

Gay recruits have started being recruited in the military currently after the judge, Virginia Phillips, struck the policy that barred people openly gay to serve.

Gay Ruling Leaves White House Fuming

In fact, the Judge refused to heed to a request to reinstate the barring, as the department of defense warned all the gay recruits to expect an appeal.

President Obama’s administration said that it was requesting the Appeals Court in San Francisco for the Ninth Circuit to enable an emergency kind of stay as the government continued in the preparation of an appeal to challenge the California Judge’s ruling.

President Obama has openly supported ridding the current policy for gays to serve openly although his administration seems to believe that, if the policy was overturned, it might cause many issues for the US military.
