Obama at Rio GrandeUnited States would engage in “aggressive sanctions” in order to prevent Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon said President Barack Obama according to Reuters. The last nuclear activity of Iran has the potential to spark a nuclear race.

The dialog with Iran was a cornerstone for Obama’s administration in the first part of his presidency, but most recently he understood that the best solution for the moment is to isolate Tehran, getting the international community on his side.

Unfortunately the Iranian government is more concerned with stopping their own people from exercising their human rights than trying to solve this problem diplomatically, this is Obama’s opinion according to Fox News Channel’s.

For this reason the White House is going to advocate for aggressive sanctions. Iran has denied it is looking to build a nuclear weapon and claims its nuclear program has the purpose of generating energy.

President Obama mentioned preventing Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon was one of his administration’s highest priorities.

“It is a hard problem but is a problem that we need to solve because if Iran gets a nuclear weapon then you could potentially see a nuclear arms race throughout the Middle East and that would be tremendously damaging to our national security interests,” he said.
