Oregon Election Results 2010 – Democrats Hold Upperhand

The Oregon election results have been finalised and they clearly indicate the retention of most of the seats by the Democrats. However, their main concern would be for the race to the post of the Governor where, their candidate John Kitzhaber is slightly behind the Republican candidate Chris Dudley. Already 89% of the total vote count has been counted and still a clear cut winner cannot be predicted and looks like everyone has to wait till the last vote is counted to the winner in the gubernatorial race in Oregon.
With the results out, its almost sure Ron Wyden, the Democrat Senator would continue his term at the US Senate. This would take him closer to a two decade term in the Senate. He was first elected to this post in 1996 and is continuing since then. His rival, Republican Jim Huffman received only 41% of the votes.
The contest for the seats for the House of Representative also went in favour of the Democrats as most of their candidates tasted victories in their respective districts. The winners included David Wu who won in District 1 and Earl Blumenauer who won in District 3. Apart of these two, others who were victorious included Peter DeFazio, winning in District 4 and Kurt Schrader who won in District 5. However, the only Republican House Member who won in his respective district is Greg Walden winning in District 2. Thereby with this victory, Walden held on to his seat for over a decade, since 1999.
