HospitalOn Saturday, England’s transplant authorities stated they were investigating hundreds of thousands of errors on its donor transplant list going back over the past ten years. The errors included mistakes such as donating a lung or a heart instead of a cornea or skin for example.

The Transplant and Blood center stated about 14 million people who are on a donor list had been affected by the computer errors since 1999. Even some people had organs removed without proper authorization!

On Sunday, the Telegraph news stated the technical errors are affecting 800,000 people. So far forty-five people have died and have donated organs. About half of those were thought to have given mistakenly.

The Health Service Agency is not denying the figures although they are not being confirmed either. They are saying there is an investigation going on. They are gathering information before notifying the families involved.

The Agency also stated that everyone who was on the donor list was not mistakenly put there. The donor list data had not been lost and is correct. As of right now everything is under control. This comes at a very crucial time in Britain as the country has the lowest percentage in Europe on organ donation.
