Very rarely do we find the sequel of a horror movie to be as successful as the first one. Seldom a horror sequel attracts its audiences as much as its predecessors have. “Paranormal Activity 2” presents with such a rare experience in which the sequel to the micro budget surprise in 2009 to preserve the quality and standards of the first film. However, the newer version brings with it a few more surprises with some added thrills delivered by a great storyline.
The storyline involves around the same concept of the first film with cameras being set up in the house by a couple to investigate the source of strange sounds at night. The character Katie, played by Katie Featherston is back in this one.
The new director, Tod Williams of “The Door in the floor” fame replaces the original one, Oren Peli but works on the same concept. The whole documentary takes place through stationary cameras and evokes a spooky feeling.
It is a low budget movie, but the thrill factor is at the highest level. The typical household rooms act as the locations which get in to the minds of the audiences, and these shots are accompanied by occasional bursts of horror startling the viewers. Even innocent characters like a dog or a baby also created this effect.
This sequel comes good as comparisons with the original “Paranormal Activity” proving the ultimate test. Those there are a few narrative hiccups, but overall the movie delivers and proves to be an enjoyable experience.
