Pat McAfee, the punter of the Indianapolis Colts was arrested early morning on Wednesday for intoxicating in public. He was later released, just before noon. He was caught in an Indianapolis nightlife district after taking a pre-dawn swim in a canal and was detained for about six hours.
The colts punter was arrested and charged with one count of public intoxication after a woman called 911 claiming McAfee to be out of himself, without his shirts. He even tried to get inside the woman’s car. The 23 year old McAfee was found shirtless and soaking wet in spite of it being not raining. The kicker admitted to be drunk but refused to answer the police when asked the quantity he had drunk.
He was later subjected to a breathalyzer test. Cops said McAfee was caught with a blood alcohol content of 0.15 % which was close to double the limit allowed while driving in Indiana.
The second year player hailing from West Virginia, McAfee is the fourth Colts player who had been caught and arrested for charges related to alcohol this year. Bill Polian, the team president reacted to this incident and said facts had to be gathered and thereafter discipline would be imposed.
Though McAfee has the support of his team, he is due to appear in court on Friday. He was released without bail. It was also not clear whether he will be seen to gear up in the Colt’s jersey and take the field this weekend.
