A man who claimed the lives of three people 15 years ago has been awarded what has been an extensive sum in personal injury compensation.

Nicholas Butler was left brain-damaged in a car crash, who is now 23, was on his way to school when the accident happened. He was with his cousin Laura and their friend Nikita Somes, who was seven, in his Aunt Susan Prosser’s car.

Ms Prosser lost control of the vehicle and was hit by a lorry, crashing down an embankment and ramming into a tree, according to the Bucks Free Press.

He suffered severe head injuries and currently needs 24-hour care because of his brain damage. Everyone else was killed in the accident.

Nick’s family helped him take legal action against the insurer of the lorry driver and the case was heard by Mrs. Justice Swift in High Court this week. The judge approved an undisclosed personal injury settlement, which would provide Nicholas with the care he needs for the rest of his life. A portion of the money is to be spent on a specially-adapted home that will cater to his needs.

The sum of Nicholas’s personal injury compensation would most likely run to millions due to the extent of his injuries.

In a recent case, a 16-year-old British female, Chrissie Johnson was awarded a record GBP 17.5 million to cover her long-term care costs after she was left-brain damaged after her family took legal action against the driver responsible.
