Pervy Mush is at it again. Pakistan’s former military dictator branded two-time PM Nawaz Sharif as “totally brainless”. The comeback man said at a rally in Birmingham that “Nawaz Sharif lost power twice because he lacked intellect”, saying his bitter rival was a classic case of a living brain donor who was heedless to the woes of the people. Mush said his new party – All Pakistan Muslim League -would break from the dynastic tradition of the subcontinent, a barb at the Bhuttos and the Gandhis, and ensure a truly democratic structure with no power inheritance hierarchies. He also promised greater accountability to the people, in a nation where Asif Ali Zardari, Benazir Bhutto’s hubby is dubbed as the profiteering Mr. 10% who feeds off the fat of the land. Sharif was thrown out by Musharraf in a bloodless coup in 1999, is considered top foe to the former president. Outside the venue of the Birmingham rally, hundreds of members from the pan-Islamic body Hizbut Tahrir had gathered to stage a peaceful protest under the watchful eyes of policemen in riot-gear. While some (party cadre?) people held supportive banners that read “Pakistan needs an accountable ruler” , sceptical others lobbed footwear at Musharraf’s posters , a fave mode of protest ever since Bush got hit with a size 10 flying shoe, a gift from an irate Iraqi who became an instant hero in his nation. After smearing egg on Nawaz Sharif’s face, it remains to be seen what the next salvo in this war of the words is.
