Philadelphia is gearing up for the seventeenth marathon. Like the other years, this year too Philadelphia
Marathon has garnered huge response from the athletes. Every year this marathon has attracted
athletes from different places and this year will not be any exception. According to the reports, the
organizers expect around twenty three thousand athletes will participate in the 2010 Philadelphia
marathon and will make this event a grand success.

As per the reports, athletes from many places have registered their names for this year’s event, which
indicates this sporting event will record a success also in this year. Organizers, who are busy in making
the last moment arrangements for Sunday’s marathon, are also overwhelmed by the expected number
of people who would gather for witnessing this important athletic event of the city. Though there is no
confirmed report, this year’s marathon may draw a huge crowd of over fifty thousand people.

The prize money of this marathon is one of the major reasons behind the popularity of the marathon.
Sources stated, this year the organizers of the event has decided prize money of three thousand five
hundred dollars for top male and female finishers. The sources also added, first five finishers of every
age group will receive some award from the organizers, this year. Apart from the award, the honor of
participating in this marathon is also a reason behind its popularity.

Reports state, Philadelphia is already prepared for the marathon. People from different places have
already started to gather in the city and the accommodation providers are really facing a tough time to
arrange proper facilities for them.
