Philadelphia once again witnessed the excitement of people related to the popular athletic event of the city, Philadelphia Marathon. The seventeenth Philadelphia Marathon, which was scheduled on Sunday, as expected witnessed thousands of athletes on streets. After crossing through several roads, athletes finally reached the finishing point of the race and determined the Philadelphia Marathon results 2010.

According to the reports, Daniel Vassallo came first in the men’s division while Mariska Kramer clinched the top position among women. The winners of the seventeenth Philadelphia Marathon were very much delighted about their achievements. In an interview, Daniel Vassallo said, it was initially an unbelievable moment for him. The athlete was overwhelmed with emotions when his name was declared as the winner.

Philadelphia half marathon, which is also an important athletic event of the city, was held on the same time. Reports state Hirut Madefro and Kiprotich Kirui won the half marathon. Hirut Madefro completed the run in 1 hour 17 minutes and 52 seconds to receive top spot among women. Kiprotich Kirui won the race for men after completing the entire course in 1 hour 4 minutes and 2 seconds only.

This year, Philadelphia Marathon organizers had declared multiple prizes for the athletes. However, that does not mean prizes were the only reason, which attracted the athletes. It was a significant reason for the attracting thousands of athletes but the craze for the marathon is the most important factor behind its success. Philadelphia Marathon is one of the most prestigious athletic events held in the country and athletes from different parts of the country wait for this day.
