Playoff Hopes Are Kept Alive by The N. Y. Rangers

Hokey GameOn Friday, The N. Y. Rangers won a four to three victory over the Flyers. This will set up as showdown on Sunday for the Conference’s final postseason game keeping their playoff dreams alive.

N. Y.’s win puts them even at eighty-six points with the Philadelphia Flyers for eighth place and the final spot in the Eastern Division. If the Flyers win Sunday they will advance in the final Eastern Conference game.

The Rangers could advance with either overtime or a loss to Philadelphia along with two losses by Boston Bruins. The Bruins are in sixth place at the moment in the Eastern Conference with eighty-seven points according the NHL.

N. Y.’s Lundqvist made a number of saves in the third, stopping ten shots with a total of twenty four saves. Also scoring for the rangers was Dubinsky, Shelley, and Drury. Gaborik scored his forty-second goal matching his career high.

For the Flyers, Richards scored twice along with Danny Briere who had twenty-one saves from Boucher. Sunday will be a playoff game and a major showdown among heavy hitters in hockey.
