Another young school student became the victim of sexual assault and ended her life. The 14-year-old girl, Samantha Kelly, who had lodged a rape complaint few months back, committed suicide in the mobile home of her family. Reports indicate that the young girl had suffered great mental stress after the news of her complaints against the 18-year-old man Joseph Tarnopolski became public. She was regularly bullied by her friends and classmates. Sources close to the girl indicated that she could not bear the regular taunting of her friends and committed suicide.
The sudden death of the girl has set the accused, Joseph Tarnopolski free. When contacted by the media, the accused clearly mentioned that he had not raped the girl forcefully. It was with their mutual consent and he felt sorry to hear the news of Samantha Kelly’s death. Reports also indicated that the accused have blamed others for the mental stress that the girl had to bear after filing the complaint. He had made it clear that he had nothing to do with the torments that Samantha Kelly had experienced in school.
The release of the statutory rape accused had shocked June Justice, the mother of the victim. The lady who had lost her daughter in a tender age was sorry as her daughter did not get the appropriate justice. She had made great efforts to bring justice for her daughter but all were in vain as Samantha Kelly committed suicide. Though the accused has been released and the case has been closed, the death of the girl has given rise to several questions regarding a girl’s safety against such mental tortures.
