Reelfoot Art and Craft Festival Lovers in For a Treat This Weekend

Reelfoot Arts and Crafts Festival will commemorate its 39 annual appearance for three days starting on October 1, Friday, right in the expected autumn weather.

With weather forecasts anticipating the skies to be sunny, high temperatures about 21.1 C and lows in 40-50s Fahrenheit, the organizer of the event cannot wait for it begin.

Lovers of Art and Craft in for a Great Time

What await those making their way to the Southern shore in the perfect weather are about 275 merchandise booths. The official festival will be about a mile right on highway 21/22 and will encompass the Armory Building, American Legion Building and the Ellington Assembly Hall. In case there are more additional booths, they usually stretch their wares on the southern side of the highway, creating a fringe festival yet to be official.

Running from Friday to Sunday, the festival will be open from about 9a.m. to 5p.m. in the evening, free admission. For those with cars there is free parking on the grounds of the Reelfoot Lake State Park, although a number of visitors can go for parking in the adjacent lots.

Some of the unusual merchandise set to appear in the this year’s annual festival include herbal, white barbecue sauces, fused and kiln fired art glasses, and flax seed types of heat wraps.

An official of Reelfoot Arts and Crafts organization reported that women sewing will be part of the show, with children’s clothes, hand made, appearing to be one of the festival’s popular items, as per the number of registered booths. Other popular items include crotched, embroidered and monogrammed.

In all, there will be different items such as traditional merchandise, yard decorations as well as string old time music featuring in the festival’s center grounds. Visitors can come with chairs to enjoy the ensuing singing and strumming.
