Chile miners are alive

CHILE MINERS ALIVE

After 17 days of being trapped in an underground gold and copper mine in Chile, rescue team has been able to reach to the 33 Chile miners finally with food and water. Authorities heaved a sigh of relief and the people all over were extremely happy to hear the news that all the trapped miners were alive.

The Chile miners got trapped in this mine which is 2,300 feet deep. People conducting the rescue operations have planned to drill a big hole and bring back the miners to the surface. A much bigger drill will be needed to dig such a big hole. Andres Sougarret, the man in charge of the rescue operations has said that it will take at least 4 months to cut a shaft having a diameter of 26 inches.

The images of the trapped miners have also been taken through a camera that was put down through the borehole. The President of Chile, Sebastian Pinera, has assured that all of them will be brought out safely in due course of time. Mario Gomez, the eldest of the trapped miners has even written a letter to his wife stating to have faith in God and added that he is missing his wife every moment even in that dark trap.

The incident has also invited widespread criticism of the mining safety standards practiced in Chile and how the mining company has flouted all safety norms and continued with their mining activities.
