The Jerry Maguires who root for underdogs in sports are in for a pleasant surprise. Gamblers and sports buffs alike had a field day at the San Francisco Giants parade. If you could not get there early, you could still watch the World series which gad a live broadcast. Tune in to the local TV station for updates. While gamblers worldwide stake a lot of money on minnows chasing an upset win and piles of cash, there are seldom cases of a windfall. This year the San Francisco Giants parade was a treat as gamblers went delirious with joy and cheered on the teams. At the start of the playoffs, the San Francisco Giants were a laggardly 12-1 long shots with no chance at winning, but their delightful run meant that Las Vegas and bookies who played it safe lost millions. If you rooted for the San Francisco Giants, you must be laughing all the way to the bank. San Francisco faced an uphill task with a face-off with Philadelphia Phillies, who are the two-time defending champions of the National League. The Giants made light of it as they first prevailed against Atlanta Braves and then went on to beat Philadelphia Phillies. Bettors then were firmly behind the San Francisco Giants, as the team packed a punch in their next match against Texas Rangers. It seemed like a tough call but pitcher Tim Lincecum was in superb form. There were sundry instants of hooliganism at the parade but it was a fun fest by and large Image Credit: |
