SCHOOL UNIFORM PROS AND CONS

The debates on the school uniform have became a hot subject across the country in the last vacation’s month and both sides have some strong points.

The school uniform system sustainers consider that it helps reduce violence, stooping gang members from displaying their own garb or color. Some parents enjoy the morning routines generated by this system and it also reduces the barriers between different economic groups and help the students to feel they belong to a certain community.

Finally a school uniform system may help children to stay focus on learning rather than looking who is wearing what and it can brings unity in diversity. Some studies show that incidents of vandalism dropped by 69% and sex offenses were reduced by 96% due to school uniform.

On the other hand a school uniform can inhibit student’s self expression, may represent a financial issue for some families. Certain policies would have been contradicting for the families with different religious beliefs or disabilities among their children. Even more, they consider that school uniforms do not prepare students for the real world and finally most of the uniforms are not enough comfortable.

About 20% of public schools adopted some sort of standardized dressing code. The fifth-annual savings bonus event which begins after Thursday night and ends on Sunday night will include school uniforms on the list items, along with other articles priced at $100 or less per item.
