Israeli pressure group claims that Jewish settlers began constructing homes in West Bank since a building freeze expired. The group claims that the construction is at a faster rate than it was before.

The recently re-launched Middle East peace talks are on the verge of collapse due to the construction. The Palestinians have vowed to quit the talks unless of a partial building freeze. The building units are believed to be over 600-plus new homes, some reports indicating the work began in September.

In the view of the Palestine spokesperson, it is just an indication that Israel was not ready for peace which actually is the finality of the occupation. As per the Israel government, nothing had actually changed and all the matters for discussion remained intact and that the constructions were minimal and formed no part of the elusive peace deal.

The Jewish settlers believe that peace should dictate its pace. On top of all this the Israeli Prime minister has been under extreme pressure from the American president to extend the freeze. On the counter the Israel Government offered to yield to demands only if the Palestine authorities were ready to recognize the Israel state, and as expected Palestine turned down the offer claiming it was absurd.

About 500,000 Israelis were settled in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem since 1967 but the occupation is deemed illegal under international law, a fact disputed by the settlers. The Arab league has backed Palestine not to go back to direct negotiations until a total freeze is in place.

The US mediators have until early November to have the important peace process back on track.
