Today the Pope had plans of delivering a speech to religious leaders, Parliament members, and past Prime Ministers at Westminster Hall. However, a group of six men had other plans for this memorable day. They are accused of being involved in a terrorist plot to kill the Pope.

The identity of these men isn’t readily known. Sources state that these men were heard discussing their plot to kill the Pope. This type of information isn’t taken lighting and swift action was implemented to protect the Pope as well as all of those in attendance. Many of the individuals arrested have jobs that would offer them access to the Pope as well. Five of them are street cleaners that would have been involved in preparing for this event.

The implementation of Terrorist Act 2000 regulations allows for these men to be apprehended quickly. It is believed that there could be up to ten additional men involved with this plot. The investigation into that continues as well as the search of certain addresses in order to look for men that they would like to question.

There are some that feel these efforts were too swift and criticize the efforts that have been made. However, based on the allegations, it is best that these men are in custody and being questioned at this point in time. In spite of what was taking place, the Pope proceeded with arriving at Westminster Hall and delivering his speech. This is the second day of a four state visit that the Pope is involved with.
