What happens when you bring inspiration, ideas and funds together? You get Facebook or in movie sense, Social Network. The movie is definitely what every person involved with Facebook would like to watch and know how the world’s most favorite social networking site came to be, albeit in a dramatic way. The story line is simple enough to grasp fast. The year is 2003 and a Harvard junior student by the name of Mark Zuckerberg (played by Jesse Eisenberg) is inspired to come with “TheFacebook.com”, a network where interaction between Harvard Students could take place. The site launches after Mark’s best pal Eduardo Saverin funds the project, played by Andrew Garfield. The site is launched and receives unprecedented success, growing everyday to something bigger, until Sean Parker (Justin Timberlake) comes into the picture and the movie begins. Social Network brings forth a host of well-known actors and superstars under the directorship of David Fincher. The fun in the whole fun is derived from the fact that the people who the movie celebrates as well as the network they created are still alive, their ingenuity a daily marvel. With what Facebook is today, Social Network is the kind of movie anyone would appreciate. Imagine watching a movie about something you make use of everyday and a genius of his own caliber (United States 35th richest individual in 2010) being dumped by his girlfriend. It is the best way to start a movie many think involves a systematic explanation of how the Social Network monster infested the globe. Image Credit: |
