Stan Kasten might be out of the Nationals team presidency, but far from retiring. He has a breadth of experience, with his career possibilities arguably limitless, perhaps even becoming the next baseball Commissioner.

Stan Kasten: Headed for a Higher Office?

The current commissioner, Bud Selig is stepping down after the 2012 season ends. Among those who know Kasten very well, is Bobby Cox, the legendary Manager of the Atlanta Braves and believes Kasten is able and will be willing to replace the exit of Selig.

Cox however admits he is yet to speak to Kasten about replacing Selig, but says that Kasten is “qualified to do that job.” He thinks that Kasten’s legal background, understanding of the game and the love of baseball he has would work well for him as the best choice for the job.

Cox half-joked when he answered to questions about how Stan Kasten would get along with baseball player’s union, saying that “there is a lot of screaming and yelling but they love each other…dealt with them for many years.”

Cox believes whatever path Kasten takes he can only succeed. Stan Kasten stands at 57 years in terms of age and his boundless energy was visible as he manned the Nationals. Kasten is credited for having been instrumental in the building of Braves dynasty, something that Cox talks about, saying that he “did a lot of the work” in the 1990s and does not think he will be out of working from baseball any time soon.

The Atlanta Braves Manager says that Kasten is young enough and “he’s got so much energy and vigor” and “excellent at what he does.”
