Survey by CDW Highlights the Importance of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans

CDW has announced the results of a survey it had carried out dubbed Business Continuity Straw Poll. The Company is a provider of Technological solutions to governments, education, health care and business solutions. The CDW survey took place among 200 decision makers affiliated to Information Technology at large and medium business in the United States, who had experienced considerably disruptions in their network from 2009, July. Survey Highlights Disaster Recovery Importance In the study, the way different business reacted to the felt disruptions as well as the current measures being utilized for the improvement of business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities in days to come. Officials of CDW said that “through more preparation, testing and improved network accessibility, business can improve” disaster management and business recovery plans and “have real confidence in business operations during unplanned disruptions.” 82% of the 200 businesses involved in the survey expressed a strong confidence that individual resources in information technology are able to sustain any disruptions while supporting operations efficiently. In addition, 97% of the involved businesses in the survey did admit that disruptions in networks have had a very big effect on their business in 2009. CDW system solutions vice president, Norm Lillis said that the survey was a confirmation that as businesses had the belief they were well prepared for any unplanned disruption in their network, a good number of them are not, while the three most IT outage causes could be addressed easily.
