Thomas Joseph Lavin, born on December 7, 1976 has been hosting MTV’s “The Challenge”, one of the best reality shows, for 10 years now. Still he has always been a top performer in the Dew Tour Circuit and continued to be a top BMX biker. He had always been a tough competitor in the circuit and had even won a silver and two gold medals in the X Games. On Thursday night he failed an attempt to perform a stunt which led him to suffer the accident in Las Vegas. The incident took place when he was riding on the second attempt of the dirt course. Lavin could not complete one of his stunts and thereby lost control of his bike. He lost his footing from the pedals and could not reach them which resulted in a free fall of his body from such a great height. His body almost floated on air before he dropped down and got unconscious. After the fall, his friends and crew members found him to be motionless and still, without any response. He was quickly rushed to a University Medical Center in close proximity where doctors attending him medically induced him to coma so that the brain swelling could be reduced. His ribs were broken while his wrists were also shattered. |
