Teresa Lewis Virginia Execution Tonight

Teresa Lewis will be executed tonight, having plotted the death of her stepson and husband, through injection, Thursday night. It is the first Virginia execution after approximately a century.

Virginia’s Governor Robert MacDonnell and the United State’s Supreme Court have refused to stop the execution, scheduled to take place at Jarratt in the Greensville Correctional Center at 9 p.m.

Lewis was sentenced to death after she had plotted the killings in 2002 so that she could receive their insurance money. The two men, her conspirators, fired the killing shots but were not sentenced to death but sentenced to life in prison.

Execution: Worst Way to Die?

The Virginia execution takes place in the wake of Lewis’s supporters pleading for her to be spared execution, claiming that she was under the manipulation of another smarter conspirator and was almost retarded. They hold the view that her punishment should at least be equivalent to those who pulled the trigger.

The Virginia execution case has elicited a lot of interest internationally, with the European Union asking MacDonnell to let her at least to serve a life sentenced due to her mental capacity. Even Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iranian president, was not left behind, accusing the Western Media of bias while covering Lewis’s execution.

However, prosecutors say that she is the mastermind of the lethal plan, the one who gave the male killers money for weapons and had been involved in an attempt to kill her husband earlier on. Attorney David Grimes from Pittsylvania County Commonwealth argued that “instead of pulling a trigger on a gun” Teresa Lewis had used young men “to pull the trigger her.”

Its quite unfortunate that she had to die but in my own opinion if she actually committed the crime alledged, then she has no rights to be with the human community.
This will however sound a loud not of warning to people who after committing hienious crimes shield themselves under false condition of mental health challenges
