According to a review of global sports salaries to be published Friday the New York Yankees are the best-paid team in world sports. This is measured by average pay. They were ahead of Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Chelsea. The Dallas Mavericks of basketball’s NBA is in fifth place.

The review covers 211 teams. The NBA came in second with cricket’s IPL coming in third. In fourth place is the MLB and the Premier League evenly tied.

The report includes other teams also. The leagues included were hockey’s NHL and football’s NFL, the world’s second highest paying football league the Serie A, and Japan’s NPB baseball league.

The top thirty payers outside of England are Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Sportingintelligence.com had the report written to find the differences in pay and performance results. It also was trying to find comparisons on pay. The information was based on mostly players unions or club accounts.
