The important tip-off that made the discovery of the bomb parcels within two planes handling cargo was from an al-Qaeda repentant member, officials from the United Kingdom have said.

The individual, Jabr al Faifi is said to have taken himself to the Saudi Arabia authorities about a fortnight ago, as the officials said to the media.

Tip-Off that Told About Bomb from a Repentant al-Qaeda Member

The United States has said that its major suspect in the bomb plot that failed is the main bombmaker for the Yemeni Branch of al-Qaeda.

The officials from Yemeni elaborated that 14 members suspected to be al-Qaeda members made their surrender in Abyan, southern province.

The governor of Abyan expressed that about five major figures are said to be a part of those who had surrendered themselves, as more and more fighters from the terrorism outfit were expected to hand themselves within the next few days.

Currently, Yemeni has been undergoing intense pressure from the international community to wage way to al-Qaeda, as the media reports, although there are many doubts on its ability to tackle the group. This is because it’s facing economic, political and social issues right at home.

Officials from US intelligence have suggested that Ibrahim Hassan al Asiri, a Saudi bombmaker, known to be within his 20s, stands as the chief suspect in the attempt last week to have bomb parcels be transported to the US from Yemeni.

One of the bombs was travelling on two major passenger planes prior to its seizure in Dubai, while the other one is known to have slipped via United Kingdom, as authorities in the area have received a lot of criticism due to their failure in finding the bomb within the passenger plane right in the airport in East Midlands.
