Toshiba is currently getting a lot of buzz for its show of a 3D TV that one can watch without wearing the cumbersome plastic 3D glasses. 3D TV that Uses Glasses: Toshiba's Glassless 3D TV is One of a Kind Many interested people made their way into the venue of the demonstration in Japan, in a sort of makeshift theater, where the TV maker had devised a way of watching 3D TV without special glasses. Three main sizes of the TV were displayed from 12, 20 to 56 inches. Reports depict that smaller models of the 3D TV were being made for the market in Japan by December, although the big 56-inch TV is currently just a prototype. A Toshiba representative was quoted as saying that plans to make it into a real product were not in place, yet. This 3D TV (Regza) makes use of Cell Broad Engine taking a usual 2D image where it then creates another nine images simultaneously of the image from nine main directions, live. The display is on a HD LED type of television. In fact, expert reviews of the product have seen the Toshiba Dynabook 3D laptop as the best application for the technology, almost equal to the 12 inches television. For the 12 inches 3D TV, it will be on sale by December in Japan, selling about 120,000 yen, or about 1,500 dollars, while the 20-inch 3D TV will be availed at $2,900 or 240, 000 yen. The bad news for United States and the rest of the globe is that there is no time frame of availing the glassless technology to any other market any time soon. Image Credit: |
