Working in the mine was 40 miners when the explosion happened. Most were buried alive. Eight miners have been rescued with two still being trapped. Oxygen is running out with zero chance of reaching them in time. But now, time has ran out and 28 bodies were found today beneath the rubble. The Prime Minister visited the area Wednesday. But while he was touring, fights broke out between the guards and grieving families. The President is ordering an investigation. In Turkey mining accidents are very common. The mines are ran by Turkey and the country overseas the operations on a daily basis. There were two previous open investigations in incidents that has recently happened. For example, an explosion in February that killed 13 people and in December killing another 19 workers. So far there has been no cause of what happened. Making this the third investigation within a year and half of operations. Image Credit: |
