Vikings Fire Coach After 3-7 Start

Zygi Wilf finally put his foot down on the increasing defeats of the Vikings and replaced Brad Childress
with Leslie Frazier. The team endured their seventh loss of the season before Childress got fired.

This step by the team owner was inevitable. The blow came one year after his contract was extended
through 2013. Matters piled up and after the bashful loss to the Packer’s on Sunday, he was shown the
door. In the game, the Vikings were penalized because they had too many men huddled in with just 19
seconds left to a tie game. It made them move out of the field goal range. The speculations began when
the coach sent three of his players to bring back Brett Favre for just another run at the Super Bowl.
Favre was back, but simultaneously receiver Randy Moss made his departure. Favre put up no such
commendable shows and struggled with injury. He threw 10 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Even
though his stardom remains intact, his position will be decided. After Sunday’s loss, the 41 year old said
he wants to re-evaluate whether he will stay put and complete the season. Frazier, the interim coach,
might bring in Tarvaris Jackson to decide his stay with a full rebuilding expected to be done next year.
Favre is supposed to retire after this season. Childress’ dismissal comes after the laying off of Cowboy’s
Wade Philips. Both of them were fired after facing a terrible defeat at home against the Green Bay
Packers. The Minnesota Vikings are expected to rise after the heavy blow.
