The dismal performance of the Dallas Cowboys in recent times seems to have affected the ax to fall on their head coach, Wade Phillips as reported by Andy Benoit of CBSSports.com.
According to reports, Phillips had been officially fired and his SUV was also found missing from the parking lot in the Cowboys’ Valley Ranch training facility. This happened around 9 on Monday morning when he is usually expected to meet Jerry Jones to watch the game film.
A 4pm press conference has also been announced by the Cowboys. However, its difficult to understand the cause of this conference but several people think this will revolve around the future of Phillips in the club. He is expected to leave the Cowboys.
The recent performances of the Cowboys have been very disappointing and this trend was followed when they met Green Bays over the weekend. Their listless performance was sure to bring in more talks of midseason firing which had earlier been ruled out by Jones. The job security of Phillips was increasingly getting feeble and after another dismal showing this sacking seemed inevitable.
This was evident even in the words of Jones. After getting embarrassed at the Green Bays on Sunday night Jones made it clear that people were going to face the consequences of the loss. He even specifically mentioned players, coaches who were going to suffer because of this setback. Even, Phillips himself has admitted the Cowboys looked a bad team with bad coach on Sunday night.
