Amid mounting speculation that Cowboys coach Wade Phillips is all set to be fired, the signals from the team are somewhat mixed. After another in a string of listless performances, it is being said that the ax is to fall on beleaguered Wade Phillips , as the head coach is being held responsible. The buzz is whether he is already booted out or not , and Wade Phillips must be wondering whether “to be or not to be”in the cut-throat arena of coaches who face the flak from demanding fans and owners. ESPN has reported that the SUV Phillips drives could not be spotted in the parking lot of Cowboys’ Valley Ranch this morning, but the coach was seen in an appearance at the facility. Nick Eatman of CBS Sports said that it looked be business as usual with the complex buzzing with activity. Matters are set be clarified at the CT press conference which the Cowboys have arranged at 4:00 p.m. Jerry Jones and Wade Phillips were both quiet about where the job status stood. No media statements were forthcoming from either. After the debacle on Sunday night at Green Bay, Jerry Jones said that heads would roll for the embarrassing performance. He said there would be severe consequences for coaches and players. Even though a midseason firing is usually not the norm, Wade Phillips could be in for the chop. Phillips was pretty despondent after the Green Bay debacle, and rued ” bad coaching.” |
