The European teams looked outclassed in the groups stage, while the South Americans shined, but in the most important stage of quarter finals, the situation was completely different and the Europeans won all their matches. Here we have the results.

02/07 16:00 Nelson Mandela Bay/Port Elizabeth: Netherlands – Brazil 2:1 (0:1). The Netherlands came from behind to break Brazilian hearts. Robinho scored for Brazil in 10th min, but Felipe Melo (min 53 – own goal) and Wesley Sneijder (min 68) scored for Netherlands.

02/07 20:30 Johannesburg Uruguay – Ghana 4:2 (0:1 ; 1:1 ; 1-1). Sulley Muntari scored for Ghana in min 45+2, in the last second of the first part. Diego Forlan scored for Uruguay in min 55, sending the teams in the extra time. But the most critical moment was in the last second of the game (123′) when Louis Suarez (Uruguay) used his hand on the goal line to scoop out a goal bound header from Dominic Adiyiah. But Gyan’s penalty kick hit the cross bar. In the end Diego Forlan, Mauricemo Victorino, Adreas Scotti and Sebatien Abreu scored for Uruguay while Asamoah Gyan and Stephen Appiah converted for Ghana with John Mensah and Dominc Adiyiah failing to score.

03/07 16:00 Cape Town: Argentina – Germany 0:4 (0:1). The better team wins against the better players and Germany are in the semi-finals of the World Cup after crushing England 4-1 and Argentina 4-0. Thomas Mueller (min 3), Miroslav Klose (min 68 and 89) and Arne Friedrich (min 74) scored for Germany.

03/07 20:30 Johannesburg: Paraguay – Spain 0:1 (0:0). Spain destroyed Paraguay’s hard work seven minutes before the extra time. The single goal was scored in min. 83 by David Villa.

In the semifinals Uruguay will face Netherlands while Spain and Germany will play the second match.
