There was a shake up in the age hierarchy after the oldest recognised person on earth, Eugenie Blanchard hailing from the French West Indies died at 114 . The new queen of the hill is perfectly sane and not over the hill. American Eunice Sanborn of Texas now has bragging rights as the oldest person on earth and also said to the surprise of all and sundry that actually she was Blanchard’s senior by a year, putting her age at 115. When told by a site that keeps track of living centenarians about her amazing longevity feat, Eunice Sanborn said matter of factly that there was no fuss about this achievement, giving only an understated “Oh… think of that” as a response to mediamen. While official records fix Eunice Sanborn’s age at 114, her family indicated that she was really a year older. The centenarian from Jacksonville, Texas has her more candles than cake-worthy birthday on July. The Census Bureau of the US mistakenly listed her birth year as 1896, but if her family is to be believed, it is 1895. With people as young as 25 facing a burnout, this doughty Texan centenarian should spill the beans on the secret of her robust good health and mental vim. Eunice Sanborn now mostly stays at home under constant care, but entertains visitors with delight and also makes the occasional trip outdoors for special occasions. She lives with David French, who is Sanborn’s adoptive son. |
